Calling community groups and non-profits: Bridgewalk is back – Sunday, Aug. 2 from 2-4 p.m.
May 7, 2026
Every summer, something pretty special happens high above Halifax Harbour.
For a few hours during Natal Day weekend, the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge transforms from a busy commuter route into a vibrant, car-free celebration of community – and you’re invited to be part of it.
What started as a simple idea has grown into one of Halifax’s most unique summer traditions. Thousands of people of all ages stroll the bridge, take in incredible harbour views, enjoy free snacks and entertainment – and connect with organizations that make our community stronger.
Last year, more than 30 community groups helped bring the bridge to life with interactive booths, games, giveaways, and plenty of creativity. Many are already signed up to return this year and we’d love to welcome some new faces, too.
If your organization is looking for a fun, high-energy way to connect with the public, this is it. There’s no cost to participate. We’ll provide a display table and chairs – you bring your ideas, your team, and anything you’d like to share. Just remember this is not a commercial activity, so no sales, please!
So … want in?
Join us Sunday, Aug. 2 for an unforgettable afternoon above the harbour – where the views are spectacular, the vibe is electric, and the community truly comes together. Email bridges@hdbc.ns.ca to learn more and reserve your spot.
And – if you’re looking for something to do that morning, don’t forget our inaugural running of Harbour Hustle, the road races formerly known as MACPASS Miles. The races begin at 10 a.m. from the Halifax side of the bridge across the span to Dartmouth. Registration is a must, children and youth run free, and adult registration fees will be donated to The North Grove, our key partner for 2026.
