MACPASS Miles: Run the bridge and support a great cause

February 28, 2023

Conquer the Macdonald on Sunday, August 6

If you are already making plans for the Natal Day weekend, be sure to include MACPASS Miles, the annual one-mile run across the iconic Macdonald Bridge.

Open to runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels, it’s not the longest course in the 2023 Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series, but it definitely features the most spectacular panoramic views of Halifax Harbour.

Run to support mental health

Beginning this year, there will be a $10 registration fee for adults participating in the annual MACPASS Miles race, all of which will be donated to a community partner as part of Halifax Harbour Bridges’ new Key Partner Program.

Our inaugural 2023 Key Partner is the Canadian Mental Health Association Nova Scotia Division.

Registration for youth and children is still free.

Our race categories have also changed slightly.

The women’s and men’s races remain unchanged, but the third race will be for youth (males and females aged 17-11) and the final race will be for both girls and boys aged 10 and under.

The races start on the Halifax side of the bridge and end just short of the Dartmouth toll booths.

RACE SCHEDULE

Women: 9:00 a.m.

Men: 9:30 a.m.

Youth: 10:00 a.m.

Children: 10:30 a.m.

“It’s not just a race, it’s an experience,” says Halifax Harbour Bridges CEO Tony Wright. “It’s a unique opportunity for runners to take in a harbour view they would rarely get an opportunity to experience on foot.”

The Macdonald Bridge is a signature piece of architecture in heart of Halifax and the race is an opportunity to showcase its importance to the community.

Lace up your running shoes for fun, exercise and come run on our bridge August 6, 2023.
