Bridgewalk 2024: Come for the view; stay for the fun

July 9, 2024

People walk on the Macdonald Bridge during Bridgewalk 2022.

With more than 30 Natal Day events on the schedule for Halifax this year, organizers of Bridgewalk 2024 have amped up the fun-factor for its annual family-oriented celebration on the Macdonald Bridge, set for Sunday, Aug. 4 from 2-4 p.m.

Not only can you check out the picture-perfect views from the 1.2-km suspension bridge, but we’ve supercharged the event with interactive activities for kids, a circus act, bands and more than a dozen booths from community and non-profit organizations. We’ll also have treats available!

The interactive activities include:

  • Discovery Centre: Exploring bubbles
  • HRM Solid Waste: Recycle right
  • HHB: Reject coins from around the world. (Take one home with you)
  • HHB: An ABC scavenger hunt for all things bridges

Visit booths set up by the following organizations:

  • Cycling Nova Scotia
  • Ecology Action Centre
  • Africville Museum
  • 12 Wing Shearwater
  • Royal Canadian Navy – HMCS Scotian
  • Shearwater Aviation Museum
  • Shelter Movers
  • Canadian Mental Health Association – Nova Scotia
  • HHB’s Ask an Engineer
  • Halifax Port Authority
  • Joint Regional Transportation Authority
  • Mothers Against Drunk Driving (Halifax)
  • Nova Scotia Health

Still not enough?

Come march with the John Alphonse Band, take in the music of the Second Chances band at the stage in the Dartmouth toll plaza, check out a Halifax Regional Fire truck, laugh with the Philae Shriners clowns and tiny cars, and marvel at the acrobatics of Interstellar Circus Acts performers at mid-span.

Still have a hard-shell transponder? Pick up a new MACPASS sticker transponder on site at the MACPASS Switch display, then activate it online at your convenience.

Halifax Harbour Bridges is thankful for the support of The Tool Shed for providing all bottled water for the event and to St. John Ambulance for first-aid services.
