Expect traffic delays as second MacKay weekend closure set for June 14-17

June 12, 2024

The A. Murray MacKay Bridge will close this weekend for maintenance and inspection projects that cannot be done while traffic crosses the bridge.

The MacKay will close Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m. and will remain closed until Monday, June 17 at 5:30 a.m. This is the second of four planned weekend closures of the MacKay.

This will cause traffic delays around the area, so adjust your schedule and route accordingly. Expect higher than usual volumes at the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge and in surrounding neighbourhoods. Avoid the area if possible, especially during peak hours. Take the bus or ferry. Remember, the Macdonald Bridge pedestrian walkway and bicycle lane will be open as usual.

Importantly, higher traffic volumes and longer waits mean that if you do drive, please do so cautiously. Accidents increase delays for everyone.

While bridge closures are inconvenient, they are necessary to ensure vital work is carried out safely. HHB appreciates the understanding of bridge users and the public.

All closures are weather-dependent.
