Tools and a bag are seen hanging from construction worker's tool belt. The worker is wearing a reflective safety vest.

Halifax Harbour Bridges is advising motorists of upcoming closures related to two separate projects on the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge:

1. Barrington Street On-ramp (Dartmouth-bound)

The on-ramp from Barrington Street will be closed:

  • Weekend closures:
    • Friday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. – Monday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 a.m.
    • Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. – Monday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 a.m.

    • Monday, Sept. 8 to Thursday, Sept. 11, from 8 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. nightly

The bridge itself will remain open during this work, except during the overnight bridge closures listed below.

This project involves replacing the original deck waterproofing system, inspection and resurfacing of the ramp, which was built in 1998.

2. Macdonald Bridge Overnight Closures

The Macdonald Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic on seven overnight occasions to allow the safe removal of scaffolding around the Dartmouth tower as the first phase of Project LifeSpan nears completion.

  • Each closure will last five hours only, from midnight – 5 a.m.
  • Closure dates:
    • Friday, Sept. 5 – Saturday, Sept. 6
    • Monday, Sept. 8 – Tuesday, Sept. 9
    • Wednesday, Sept. 10 – Thursday, Sept. 11
    • Friday, Sept. 12 – Saturday, Sept. 13
    • Monday, Sept. 15 – Tuesday, Sept. 16
    • Wednesday, Sept. 17 – Thursday, Sept. 18
    • Friday, Sept. 19 – Saturday, Sept. 20

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross during these but are asked to use caution.
