The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will close to vehicle traffic this weekend to allow work on several important maintenance projects that cannot be completed while traffic flows on the bridge.

The closure will begin Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. The bridge will reopen Monday, Sept. 16 at 5: 30 a.m.

The pedestrian walkway and bike lane will be open during this time, although there may be short, intermittent delays. If necessary, pedestrians and cyclists will be stopped at the bridge and allowed to proceed when it is safe to do so.

The work planned this weekend includes the replacement of bearings which help mitigate the destructive effects of shock and vibration caused by traffic. This effort concludes HHB’s multi-year program to replace the bearings used in the original construction of the bridge.

Other projects include line painting, guardrail welding and work at the toll plaza.
