MACPASS Miles and Bridgewalk better than ever
August 6, 2024
It was a record-breaking year for MACPASS Miles and Bridgewalk with more runners, more displays, more community booths and more people enjoying the view from the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge than ever before.
MACPASS Miles attracted hundreds of competitors as Halifax Harbour Bridges kicked off its community tradition of hosting a day of festivities on the Sunday of Natal Day weekend.
This is the second year that adult runners paid a $10 registration fee to enter the road races, with all proceeds given to charity. This year, the recipient of the donation is HHB’s key partner, Africville Heritage Trust. Representatives from Africville Museum were on hand to give out medals and to help cheer on the runners, then joined more than a dozen other community groups who brought displays and booths for Bridgewalk in the afternoon.
An estimated 5,000 people attended Bridgewalk, taking in the bands and circus act, enjoying the treats and getting a chance to interact with organizations from around HRM. They also had the chance to take a look at HHB’s reject coins from countries around the world and talk all things bridge-related with two of HHB’s experts.
