Public invited to share ideas for Macdonald Bridge Plaza beautification

With tolls removed from the Macdonald Bridge, Halifax Harbour Bridges is turning its attention to what comes next: landscaping the large, cleared area between traffic lanes where the old toll plaza once stood.

“We’re looking for fiscally responsible, low-maintenance ideas that bring visual appeal to this central piece of infrastructure,” said Halifax Harbour Bridges Maintenance Manager Bernard Gardiner. “Think clock, fountain, or a rock garden — not picnic tables or interactive installations, given the live traffic environment.”

A public drop-in will be held Thursday, June 19 from 7 to 9 PM at HHB Headquarters, 125 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Residents can stop by for conversation and snacks, or email their suggestions to curbappeal@hdbc.ns.ca.
