Location: Massachusetts Avenue ramp to Robie Street from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street

Current traffic impacts within the project area are also available through the new interactive Windsor Street Exchange Traffic Impacts map, helping residents and commuters stay informed and plan ahead.

Dates and times: Wednesday, Sept. 16 and Thursday, Sept. 17 from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (overnight)

Full-time closure beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 until Friday, Nov. 27. 

Work details: These temporary closures are required to support preparations for construction of a new Bayne Street ramp connection from Highway 111 as part of the Windsor Street Exchange project. 

Once completed later this year, the new connection will provide a more direct route for port traffic travelling from Barrington Street and the MacKay Bridge, helping reduce heavy truck traffic through other areas of the Windsor Street Exchange and providing an alternate access route to Bayne Street during future construction activities.

The connection is part of broader improvements at the Windsor Street Exchange that are designed to improve traffic flow, support goods movement to and from the Port of Halifax, and enhance the efficiency and resilience of the transportation network.

Traffic impact: The Massachusetts Avenue off-ramp connecting vehicles travelling from Barrington Street and the MacKay Bridge to Robie Street will be closed while this work is underway. In advance of the closure, access will be maintained while preparation work takes place near the Massachusetts Avenue ramp.

Detour signage will be in place during the closure to direct drivers travelling from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange along the detour route to access Robie Street and nearby destinations.

Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible. 

Access toward Dartmouth via the MacKay Bridge from the Windsor Street Exchange, Massachusetts Avenue and Barrington Street will not be affected.
