Crowds flock to Macdonald Bridge for MACPASS Miles and Bridgewalk 2022
August 3, 2022
The Macdonald Bridge was bustling with a different kind of activity on Sunday, as thousands of people took to the traffic lanes for MACPASS Miles and Bridgewalk 2022.
MACPASS MILES 2022
Hundreds of runners of all ages raced across the bridge on Sunday morning, crossing the MACPASS Miles finish line for the first time since 2018.
Halifax Road Hammers runners Hilary Rawding and Aaron Manning took first place in the mens’ and womens’ heats, with Katherine Sneddon-Simons from YHZ Track winning the girls’ race, and Mathew Lawton with Chebucto Athletics taking the prize for the boys’ heat.
BRIDGEWALK 2022
The excitement carried on into the afternoon — from the circus performers dazzling visitors centre span to the bands keeping people entertained and dancing, Bridgewalk was fun-filled for visitors, volunteers and bridge staff alike.
This year’s Bridgewalk event featured some new activities, including the Ask An Engineer station — where visitors learned fun facts and information about the bridges from our Halifax Harbour Bridges insiders – and our photo scavenger hunt which had people exploring and learning more about the Macdonald Bridge.
From everyone at HHB, thank you to everyone who visited the Macdonald Bridge on Sunday to make the return of these iconic events such a success.
